What Is Wardenclyffe Science Pub?

Part talk show. Part trivia competition. All fascinating, weird, and wildly fun science.

Inspired by Nikola Tesla’s bold spirit of curiosity, the same spirit that once sparked discovery right here on Long Island, Wardenclyffe Science Pub brings together big questions, surprising discoveries, and the joy of learning something you didn’t expect.

Host Richard Jordan leads the night through a lineup of brilliantly nerdy guests sharing short talks and lively conversations where science meets storytelling and humor. Expect deep dives into robots, AI, lasers, particle beams, outer space, and whatever other corners of the universe our guests have been poking around in.

Then, put your brain to work: the night wraps up with a science and tech trivia competition inspired by the evening’s speakers with prizes for the winners.

Guest speakers will be announced in the coming days. Stay tuned.

About Your Host: Richard Jordan

Expect fast-moving, funny, and genuinely smart science conversations — and someone who’ll ask exactly the questions you were thinking.

Richard Jordan is a New York–based actor, producer, and host who has appeared in comedic roles on TIRES (Netflix) and The Chair Company (HBO), and in national campaigns for brands like DraftKings and Texas Pete. His live entertainment background spans daily shows at Club Med to producing and hosting Vidocity, one of the earliest online TV series.

At Wardenclyffe Science Pub, he keeps the energy high and the big ideas accessible. Whether you’re a lifelong science nerd or just genuinely curious, you’ll leave entertained, a little smarter, and glad you came.

THIS MONTH’S SPEAKERS:

Frank Longo: Radio Astronomy

Frank Longo is a professor of astronomy and physical sciences at Suffolk County Community College, a maker, astrophotographer, amateur astronomer, puppet builder, and proud jack of all trades. His friends call him Mr. Wizard, a fitting nickname since the original Mr. Wizard was one of his childhood idols and a big reason he fell in love with science in the first place. Whether he’s building educational gadgets, restoring telescopes, or finding new life in old materials, Frank brings curiosity, creativity, and a little controlled chaos to everything he does. His mission: make learning hands-on, make science magical, and prove that imagination is one of the best tools in the shop.

Thomas Schulz: Drone Technology

Thomas Schulz is the Public Programs Coordinator at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, with a background in aerospace engineering. His passion revolves around the adaptability and problem-solving brilliance of engineers and scientists throughout history, with a particular focus on Long Island’s remarkable contributions to science and aviation. From mastering grass field landings to conquering lunar surface descents, Thomas studies past engineering feats to extract insights applicable to modern challenges. He also runs a multi-campus drone flight program where college students earn practical flight hours and complete their FAA Commercial Drone License. Thomas earned his degree in aerospace engineering and is as comfortable demoing a roaring pulse jet as he is canoeing next to a low crackling fire.

Alex Jentsch: Particle Accelerators and the Electron Ion Collider

Alex Jentsch is an Associate Staff Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory right here on Long Island, where he performs research and development for the future Electron Ion Collider and analyzes data from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. He earned both his undergraduate degree and doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. Alex’s work spans statistical data analysis, computer programming, and detailed simulations of particle detectors and interactions. He got into science for the reason most of us love it: a lifelong passion for understanding how nature works at the most fundamental level and a love of solving hard problems.
